Day Activity and Health Services

DAHS stands for Day Activity and Health Services. In Texas, these programs provide structured daytime services for adults who need supervision, health monitoring, social interaction, and assistance with daily activities while continuing to live at home or with family members.

DAHS programs are regulated by the Texas Health and Human Services Commission (HHSC).

Our Mission

Compassionate Care, Empowering Independence.

In this era, when couples have to work to make ends meet, people find themselves too busy to personally take care of their loved ones. S. Tex Adult Day Activity Center is here to give a helping hand.

As a state-licensed organization, we provide affordable and cost-effective day center and health care services to the aged and disabled, with or without medical and/or physical impairments.

With our team, made up of  Nursing, Activities Director, Registered Dietitian, and MSW, we provide daily medical monitoring and activity stimulation that helps to rehabilitate clients and improve their ability to perform activities of daily living, thereby preventing early institutionalization.

Our center is designed to address the physical, medical, and social needs of clients served. Care is highly individualized based on needs. S. Tex. staff, families, and the individuals served work together to create an adequate plan of care and a positive and rewarding environment. At South Texas, we are committed to excellence.

The Center

A Welcoming Space for Care, Activity & Connection

S. Tex. Adult Day Activity Center is made up of a nursing station equipped to handle day-to-day minor emergencies, administer medications, and perform most nursing procedures, with a sick bay where the sick or tired can lie down to rest, and a large exercise area equipped for upper and lower extremity workouts.

A quiet, more intimate area is available for television viewing, movies, and leisure reading. We also have a large craft/activities area, game room with a pool table, and a good-sized dining room. Assisted feeding is provided to those incapable of feeding themselves.

A large backyard is available for walks, socialization, and outdoor games for those who enjoy the outdoors. Those with a green thumb will also have a chance to nurture plants in this area.

S. Tex. Adult Day Activity Center is where you need to be for all your socialization needs — “WHY STAY HOME AND BE BORED?” You will receive warm, genuine care from people who are ready to offer a helping hand at all times.
